Recently, a successful cleanliness drive was carried out at the junction of Chikkamudnooru Village (Darandakukku to Kodimara Road) by the members of Veera Maruthi Seva Trust (Reg.).
This initiative received valuable support from the Bannuru Grama Panchayat, which provided essential materials for collecting waste as well as two staff members to assist in the activity. Their cooperation played an important role in the smooth execution of the drive.

During the cleaning process, a large amount of waste was found scattered across the area. This included numerous soft drink plastic bottles, alcohol bottles, tin containers, and tetra packs, highlighting the growing problem of improper waste disposal in rural areas. In total, more than 20 bags of plastic waste were collected.

Over 20 members of Veera Maruthi Seva Trust actively participated in the drive, showing great dedication and teamwork. The collected waste was responsibly handed over to the Grama Panchayat for proper disposal.

On this occasion, Mr. Prakash Chikkamudnoor (Secretary) addressed the participants and local residents. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He also raised awareness about the long-term impacts of pollution, such as:
- Harm to human health due to contaminated surroundings
- Negative effects on soil and water quality
- Danger to animals caused by plastic waste
- Contribution to climate change and environmental degradation
He urged everyone to take responsibility for their surroundings, avoid littering, and spread awareness among others. He also highlighted that small actions like proper waste disposal and regular cleaning can create a big positive impact on future generations.
“Plastic doesn’t melt in soil—it reaches rivers and oceans, turns into microplastics, and can come back to our kitchens through salt, posing serious health risks.”
This cleanliness drive not only improved the condition of the junction but also inspired the community to work together towards a cleaner and greener village.
